Although originally from New Jersey, Kathie Lostetter has made her home on a small farm in Northern New Mexico for the last 27 years. She has been showing her visionary animal sculpture at galleris in Santafe, Taos, Aspen, Albuquerque and Tubac, over the last 14 years. Each unique scuplpture, inspired by dreams and folklore, is created in clay, fired and then painted with oil paints. They are further embellished with beadwork, gemstones and feathers from her macaws. The sculpture is about nurturing and the sacred inspiration humans have found from animals, plants and the lands that have been portrayed in myths, art and ceremony. |
