Jenine Clevenger’s paintings record the radiant energy patterns that permeate all things. Inspired by the natural and technological landscapes that surround her, Clevenger uses acrylics, charcoal, paper, ink and pastels to create translucent layers that build in intensity and resolve into a balance of color, shape and texture. Clevenger evokes the constantly shifting forces that underlie all matter with contrasting elements--smooth, rough; bright, dark; organic and geometric--allowing her paintings to grow in radiance until reaching a state of harmonious equilibrium.
Clevenger grew up in northern New Mexico and received her B.F.A. in 1994 from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her work is exhibited nationally, and is included in numerous private collections.
